Anthony Muñoz Trophy

The Muñoz Trophy is the official award for the best player in the TCS. Statistics will be ranked by a standard 'fantasy' scoring system. The system is only a gauge of performance, it is not indicitave of who will actually win. Each coach will have a vote in which the winner of the poll wins the trophy.

Marcos Razzan
SR (RS), WR, Penn
Marcos Razzan's Season XVIII set the bar for receivers with his 1,671 yards receiving. His four 200-yard receiving games this season tied the record for the most amount of games in that category in a season. He also had 5 TDs in Week 1 which helped set the tone for the Quakers' season. The Quakers ran for an all-time low of under 250 yards during the regular season, but it was Marcos Razzan that helped Penn's offense be successful enough to bring them to the National Championship game. Marcos graduates as the all-time leader in receiving at Penn, and he now adds an Anthony Muñoz Award to his résumé!
Top 5 Vote Breakdown: Marcos Razzan, WR - Penn (62), Darius Jackson, RB - SYR (33), Denver Hendrix, QB - Penn (28), Christian Wilson, RB - N.C. (24), Geovanni Bocanegra, RB - MSU (9)

Chet Murphy
SR , DB, N.D.
Chet Murphy had quite a historic season in Season XVII. He helped his Notre Dame squad finish with a 9-2 record and a bowl victory over Alabama. His 20 interceptions on the season dwarfed the previous single-season record of 12. He had 9 games on the season where he was able to record an interception. Murphy leaves TCS as the career leader in interceptions with 32. Chet also tied the single-game interception record with his four-interception performance against Connecticut in Week 7. Chet's dominating season has now been rewarded with the award that never been presented to a defender: He is now an Anthony Muñoz Award Winner!

Shawki Taliban
SR (RS), RB, Conn
Shawki Taliban leaves TCS as the 6th-place rusher in career yards, and now is also leaving as Anthony Muñoz Award winner. His career total of 47 rushing TDs puts him in 4th on the list. This season, Shawki was a dominant force as he rushed for at least 100 yards in 7 of his 11 games this season. His spotlight performance came against a tough Binghamton squad where he rushed for 209 yards. Connecticut's first National Championship appearance came with a lot of the load on Shawki's back. He was the team's leader in receptions during a season where he had touches on just under 50% of Connecticut's plays from scrimmage. Shawki also had at least one rushing TD in all eleven games this season!
Top 5 Vote Breakdown: Shawki Taliban, RB - Conn (48), Tyler Wilson, QB - ARK (19), Ernie King, DB - TCU (19), Robby Parris, WR - N.D. (19), Jake Roberts, WR - SYR (16)
15
Mark Schultz
JR , QB, SRU
Mark Schultz had a very impressive year while leading his team to an 11-0 record and a TCS National Championship victory. Schultz threw at least two touchdowns in ten of the eleven Slippery Rock games this season. His 31 touchdown passes ranked first on the season and was the 5th highest ever thrown in during a season in TCS history. Mark led the 3rd ranked offense in the nation as the team won ten games by 11 or more points. In seven games, Schultz was able to lead the team to 35 points. Efficiency was Schultz's game as he threw for at least 75% completion percentage in five games this season. This All-American will always be remembered as being one of the greats in TCS history.
Top 5 Vote Breakdown: Mark Schultz, QB - SRU (72), AJ Saunders, DB - SRU (32), Montee Ball, RB - Wisc (28), Lindsey Lamar, RB - USF (21), Larry Pagina, TE - SYR (13)

Ryan McCarthy
SR (RS), RB, STT
Ryan McCarthy had a great season with ten 100-yard rushing games in eleven games. He led TCS in rushing yards, and finished second in rushing touchdowns. His 1,883 rushing yards ranks as the second highest single-season rushing total, and his 3,550 career yards on the ground put him at sixth all-time. The Tommies came into the season putting a lot of pressure on McCarthy, and he was able to help the team make a bowl game. As the only RB to receive a carry this season for the Tommies, McCarthy showed that he could handle the load and that he could handle it well. Congratulations to McCarthy on a great season!
Top 5 Vote Breakdown: Ryan McCarthy, RB - STT (49), Clinton Portis, RB - MIA (30), Dee Macdowell, DB - SRU (29), Jeffery Demps, RB - FLA (23), Craig Irons, RB - ORE (12)
13
Deshawn Ruth
JR (RS), QB, ITH
Deshawn Ruth recorded what is probably the most efficient passing season ever in TCS. Ruth managed to throw 25 TDs without an interception on 88 pass attempts. He led his team to a perfect 10-0 regular season record while having four games that would yield a perfect QB rating using the NFL's system. After last season's controversial Muñoz Award ballot, Ithaca's Ruth made sure an Ithaca QB would receive the award. The Bombers were led by one of TCS's greatest quarterbacks of all-time and will definitely miss him next season. The All-American gets to now claim the most prestigious award in all of college Tecmo.
Top 5 Vote Breakdown: Deshawn Ruth, QB - ITH (59), Tony Betts, RB - SYR (37), Matt Asiata, RB - UTH (33), George Ramirez, DB - Penn (7), Jeff Hilliard, DB - STT (6)
12
Lynn Jackson
SR (RS), RB, Wisc
In what ended up being a two-horse race for the Anthony Muñoz Trophy, Lynn Jackson managed to win the vote by the smallest margin ever (tying the smallest margin set in the season two voting). The fans at Camp Randall came into this season not knowing what to expect from their Badgers. The offense was to showcase a young quarterback and a running back that had three career rushing yards. Despite the uncertainty, Jackson was able to put up some big numbers on the ground with 1730 rushing yards and 21 touchdowns. He had three games of over 200 yards on the ground in games against Syracuse, Georgia, and Nebraska. This All-American was also able to spend a day with Bucky and the fans while receiving the prestigious Don Rayne Award of Excellence.
Top 5 Vote Breakdown: Lynn Jackson, RB - Wisc (35), Javon Massey, DB - ORE (33), Oderick Turner, WR - Pitt (13), Ed Young, QB - BUF (12), Archie Rolle, RB - TCU (12)
11
Robert Marve
JR , QB, MIA
In a season with no overwhelming favorite for the Munoz Award, Marve emerged as the steady force that brought Miami a conference championship, as well as a bowl berth and a 7-2-1 record. Marve led the league in passing touchdowns with 27 and finished in the top 5 for completions, completion percentage, yards, and yards per attempt. Miami is the first team to win the award with two different owners.
Top 5 Vote Breakdown: Robert Marve, QB - MIA (50), Zac Mendenhall, RB - ORE (32), Maurice Wells, RB - OSU (18), Mel Carey, WR - H.C. (16), Bobby Ewald, RB - Bama (15)
10
Jonathan Levine
JR (RS), RB, ORE
Levine led Oregon to a 9-1-1 record and its first ever National Championship. In season X, Jonathan led the league in Rushing Yards and tied for the league lead with 20 Rushing Touchdowns. He also had a combined 23 rushing and receiving TDs, second best in the league. Oregon as a team led the league in rushing offense, and Levine's rushing nearly tripled what the passing offense did this season. It was no surprise to defenses that Levine would get the ball, but even so, hardly anyone could contain his combination of power and speed.
Top 5 Vote Breakdown: Jonathan Levine, RB - ORE (31), Jamaal Smith, DB - DEP (27), Corey Richards, QB - Pitt (27), Samuel Norman, RB - Penn (16), Travis Beckum, WR - Wisc (11)
9
Tyler Donovan
JR (RS), QB, Wisc
In a season of no clear frontrunner for the Munoz Award, junior Tyler Donovan emerged as the winner against the other quarterback elder statesmen of the league. Donovan led Wisconsin to a league best 9-1 record and its first ever National Championship berth. In his second season as a starter, Donovan led the league in both Passing Yards and Yards per Attempt. Donovan's most versatile attribute came near the goalline, where he scrambled for an additional 5 touchdowns, second in the league among QBs. Wisconsin as a team finished second in passing offense, thanks to Donovan's ability to hit his wideouts when it counts. Certainly it was his ability to count for nearly 80% of the team's offense that gained him the accolades to be worthy of the Munoz trophy.
Top 5 Vote Breakdown: Tyler Donovan, QB - Wisc (47), Claude Tull, QB - W.F (38), Dan Juvan, QB - ITH (28), Samuel Norman, RB - Penn (19), Devin Delfino, RB - AUG (15)
8
Vito Willis
SR , QB, TEX
It has been three seasons, but Vito Willis has won his second Munoz Award, the first player to do it on non-consecutive occasions. In season 8, Willis led the league in QB Rating, Number of Completions, Completion Percentage, Touchdowns, and had the lowest Interception Percentage of any starting QB. Willis’ great season is only topped by his outstanding career. He leaves TCS having completely shattered the Passing Yards and Passing Touchdowns records over the course of his career. He also led his team to the National Championship game for the second time in his career, the first time being when he won the Munoz award in season 5 as a freshman.
Top 5 Vote Breakdown: Vito Willis, QB - TEX (61), Pete Richardson, RB - TTU (29), Maximus Okafor, WR - Pitt (12), Waylon Jeremy, RB - Bama (9), Tyler Donovan, QB - Wisc (8)
7
Benny Warner
SR , WR, MIA
Benny Warner had unquestionably the best season a wide receiver has ever had in TCS. He set a new record for receiving touchdowns in a season with 23 as well as receiving yards with 1,454. Warner also set a record for receptions for a wide receiver by catching 38 passes. As if those individual achievements were not enough, Warner led his team to a National Championship appearance, the fourth ever in the school's history. The Hurricanes have had a slew of excellent running backs in their storied history, but no receiver quite stood out the way Benny Warner did in Season 7.
Top 5 Vote Breakdown: Benny Warner, WR - MIA (53), Micah Andrews, RB - W.F (48), Ken Couvillon, QB - H.C. (22), Greg Lee, WR - Pitt (20), Kyle Ambrogi, RB - Penn (13)
6
Kyle Orbison
SR , QB, LSU
Kyle Orbison saved his best season for his senior year and left the TCS with a bang. Not only did he break his own TCS passing yards record from season 5, he also shattered the passing TD record (formerly held Vito Willis) with 35 TDs. Orbison led the LSU Tigers to a 10-1 record, the best record in franchise history, and won the TSB Heaven Bowl, falling just short of a National Title berth. In just two seasons as starter for LSU, Orbison finishes his short tenure fourth in career passing TDs and third in career passing yards.
Top 5 Vote Breakdown: Kyle Orbison, QB - LSU (40), Danny Nixon, RB - BUF (24), Judson Schmitt, RB - Wisc (22), Vito Willis, QB - TEX (14), Ross Young, RB - H.C. (11)

Vito Willis
FR , QB, TEX
Vito Willis was only a freshman when he blew everyone away this year in the Munoz race. He put up mind boggling numbers including the 4th most passing yards in a season, tied the mark for most touchdown passes in a season, had a insane 68% completion percentage, and only threw 3 interceptions! Not to mention he also ran for 200 yards and 3 touchdowns. Vito lead Texas to a 9-1 regular season record and to The National Championship. Vito clearly had one of the best season's for a TCS player and looks to try to repeat his performance in the future.
Top 5 Vote Breakdown: Vito Willis, QB - TEX (41), Sharriff Abdullah, DB - ILL (27), Kevin Grady, RB - MIC (22), Courtney Lewis, RB - ATM (15), Bill Peacock, RB - TEX (14)

Bill Peacock
SO , RB, TEX
Are we seeing the next EB Halsey? After a decent freshman campaign, Bill Peacock nearly doubled his yardage and touchdowns. He is one of the key players on the best team in the league. The scary thing is that he is only a SOPHOMORE!! He could win three by the time he is done. What is the deal with only orange teams winning the Munoz? I guess it is because Mr. Munoz was a Cincinnati Bengal.
Top 5 Vote Breakdown: Bill Peacock, RB - TEX (61), Woodrow Rathman, QB - LSU (34), Earl Webster, RB - MIA (33), Danny Amendola, WR - TTU (12), Ben Murray, QB - Wisc (11)
3
EB Halsey
SR , RB, ILL
The controversy from last year was silenced in Season 3. All doubt was removed as to who was the TCS's best player this season. EB Halsey somehow IMPROVED and posted almost 500 more yards than his Season 2 Munoz campaign. He shattered the rushing record and came within one TD of the rushing TD record, all without that extra bowl game. He also brought a receving threat to the team this sesaon with six TD receptions. Let the record show... EB is the Archie Griffin of the TCS!
Top 5 Vote Breakdown: EB Halsey, RB - ILL (47), Woodrow Rathman, QB - LSU (38), EJ Underwood, DB - OSU (30), Andre Caldwell, WR - H.C. (19), Danny Amendola, WR - TTU (4)
2
EB Halsey
JR , RB, ILL
It's tough to put into numbers just how important EB Halsey was to the Illini. First of all, you must consider that he was coming into the season with a team that just finished 0-10. Secondly, for him not to get injured early in games was really impressive since he carried the ball a record 184 times for over 1,500 yards. Halsey rallied his Illini to five-win season and a victory in the Sois.com Bowl. Halsey has announced he will return for his senior season. This time he and the Fighting Illini will try for the national title.
Top 5 Vote Breakdown: EB Halsey, RB - ILL (33), Jerome Jackson, RB - BUF (31), Prescott Burgess, LB - BUF (21), Woodrow Rathman, QB - LSU (11), Lorenzo Booker, RB - Pitt (9)
1
Vince Young
SO , QB, TEX
Vince Young is going to be tough to live up to. He set the standards really high in the TCS's first ever season. In only 10 games, Vince threw 32 TD passes. He led the league in passing yards and in QB Rating. His outstanding play allowed the Longhorns to take home the inaugural TCS National Championship trophy. Vince is only a sophomore, which makes his accomplishments even more outstanding. In the voting, he received six out of eight first place votes.
Top 5 Vote Breakdown: Vince Young, QB - TEX (33), Frank Gore, RB - MIA (14), Santonio Holmes, WR - OSU (7), Taurean Henderson, RB - TTU (6), Mark Clayton, WR - O.U (5)
